Chiropractic & Yoga The Giving and Receiving of Life

All resolutions, goals and achievements come from self-awareness, knowing what you want, how to get there and why you want it. A healthy body is a must, it is the very beginning, and you can't get very far if your body is screaming from the inside due to poor choices of the past. The messages that your body gives you are a gift, so that you can know more of yourself, and then respond with free will and choice to make a better life for yourself. This vehicle that moves you 'around and about' takes care. Your spine and nervous system needs care for life. Having taught Yoga for 21 years, and having been in Chiropractic for 18 years I can tell you from experience that one does not replace the other. I have meditated and studied on this thought for years, as there is plenty cross over in philosophy and science, but in application it is different in many ways. Here are some major points for you to ponder.

Chiropractic is passive for the recipient. Through the art, science and philosophy of a precise chiropractic adjustment you receive help on your healing path by the placing of skilled hands on vertebrae of the spine where life force is blocked, and an opening to the pathway of the spine and nervous system is restored in a way that you could not have achieved yourself. A Chiropractor studies 9 years just to be able to give an adjustment, and then studies for the rest of their life to give a life affirming clearing adjustment that in moments connects man the physical to man the spiritual.  Chiropractors improve the brain to body messages by keeping the pathways cleared, as it is through the nervous system that life, health and healing exists. We have no control of the messages, nor do we seek to control the message or the outcome. We restore messages period, and then we stand back and watch the miracle of life that exists within you to be awakened as we are fully aware that this intelligence that exists within you is always good, and is always 100%. When you are connected to that goodness, and to that 100% power, amazing things happen, we have seen it again and again.

Yoga is active, in that you begin to learn the process of how to live a life that connects you to that source of power within and to the source of all intelligence and power within, God. Through free will, thoughts, actions and deeds you restore the lifestyle that supports healthy living.   Yoga teaches you to live a life of truth, kindness, giving, responsibility, and faith.   You learn how to purify the body, mind and thoughts, to be content, to have discipline, to be self-aware, and to seek God always. We use body positions or postures named in the image of other living things to identify and remember that all of life exists within you.  Yoga teaches you to breathe life, and to allow life to breathe you.  You learn to control the senses, to meditate and to devote to the will of God and to become at one with God within. That is the path of Yoga.

We live in an imperfect world and we will always have blocks to our life force despite the best of intentions.  We need each other, we need to care for ourselves, but we also need to seek care for ourselves. We need to regularly practice Yoga and we need to regularly receive Chiropractic. One feeds the other and enhances the other, like brushing and flossing.  As a Chiropractor I can help you to connect to your true power, and hope that you will know what lies within you, but it is not necessary that you believe to receive benefit, as inner intelligence works without free will, it is always there and it is not of a man-made design.  As a Yogi, I can guide you to a way of living that seeks health and God, but it will be up to you to get there, I can only lead you on a path.  You are a product of creation and personal choice, work with both by keeping the pathways of the nervous system cleared through Chiropractic to keep creation alive and well within you, and build a life of healthy habits and connection to creation through Yoga and see the marriage of a match made in heaven.

Signs of Spring & Wide Open Spaces

We are blessed to have the four season, and with that comes the change of sentiment that inevitably arrives when spring finally peaks out from behind the darkness of winter.  Nature calls and we are beckoned outside where there is more space to move and breathe.  Windows open, houses are cleaned, things are sold at yard sales or given away to good will, and everyone yearns for more space.  A long winter can make us feel heavy, where spring seems to lighten our load and gives us the energy that is needed for the days ahead.

Imagine yourself in a great open field where you can see for miles and miles and the sky is open and vast.  Imagine your home only filled with things that you love and need, nothing more, nothing less.  Imagine your mind clear and focused, present and in the moment, and imagine your body having all the stretch it needs to move with limitless expansion.  So when you are enjoying the great outdoors, and clearing out your environment, don't forget the most important part, your internal environment.

Turning on the life giving properties within through a chiropractic adjustment releases stress and tension and replaces it with growth and expansion.  Spinal joints begin to remove excess inflammation that limits our mobility, nerves are free to flow to send electrical impulses of healing, and your mind becomes focused on its mission to support life, its most important function.  Clearing away the clutter inside of our physical bodies promotes the ease that we are seeking instead of the dis-ease that happens when regular spinal care is not provided.  So wash your internal windows to the soul, and throw open your doors to vitality, and mirror nature by getting connected to life.

I always say an adjustment makes "The room brighter, the body lighter and a smile come to the face"

Good Posture is the Smile of the Soul

My son was in the orthodontist chair and advised that he would need braces.  The need for care was established, images and exam criteria were taken into consideration and then the financial plans were delivered.  For the most part it is cosmetic, it does not make your teeth more healthy though there may be ease in brushing and flossing in the future with less areas for food particles or bacteria to linger that would lead to less tooth decay.   Braces also can improve speach, chewing and the bite, but again all are not life threatening.  I had braces and so I can say it was a self esteem booster and a smile is like the sun that can lighten up a room.  However, a true smile comes more from within and does not entirely come from teeth showing, it is an expression of ebodying joy, health and happiness and it radiates from the inside out.  Where does that come from?  I want that kind of smile for myself and my kids.

A persons emotional state is always depicted in the appearance with posture reflecting back the image of that nature.  Depression, saddness of grief being the opposite of joy and happiness has a posture that reflects a sunken chest, rounded shoulders and a dropped chin.  Would that light up a room?  What if you gave that same posture a perfectly gleeming smile?  Is your self esteem enhanced by poor posture?  The ramifications of poor posture are much larger than poor tooth and jaw structure and yet as a culture we seem to deny that fact.  Without normal spinal posture preserving the nervous system, health declines and sickness and disease develop.  Posture safeguards your INTERNAL smile, your joy from within, your health and vitaltiy and how you are able to express it.   Good posture CAN light up a room!

So what is proper posure?  Right now, I want you to stop what you are doing and look at anyone in your home and see if their ear canal is over their shoulders, and their shoulders are over their hips, and their hips are over their heels.  Then from the front, are their ears, shoulders, and hips level and do their feet point forward?  This is a rudementary look at the posture, but if there are distortions there are serious consequences to health.  A chiropractor is trained to detect and correct spinal misalignements and will do an even more progressive exam with images, or other exam criteria and will recommend care based on those findings.  Your posture is the non-verbal message that you are sending out into the world.  Does it say what you want it to say?

Is Your Posture Smiling?

Kids Get Chiropractic - Do You?

Watch a child grow in the first few years of life and you will see the ultimate potential of a being that knows no limits.  Without even much encouragement a child eagerly has the drive and desire to rapidly advance into more of him or herself.  By the age of around one they barely flinch when they fall, they tend to just get right back up and they often don't want help.  We can learn a lot from children.  Even great sages and spiritual leaders have often been described as 'child-like' in a desirable way.

Although children are unfamiliar with the ways of the world for safety reasons, they sure know how to navigate the essentials when it comes to body wisdom.  They fall asleep anywhere they are tired, they eat when they are hungry and they don't when they are not, the insticltively know how to get food from the very first moments of life, and they know how to get their point across if they want something.  A kids favorite first words are 'no' for good reason, because they know what they know and they don't need you telling them anything different.  Before language takes over they are well versed on listening to their own inner intelligence that as chiropractors we call innate.  It is the intelligence that exists in all living things that knows all, does all and needs no help, just no interference.

Children also love physical bonding and contact, they practically demand it by crawling up on your lap when they want to, they reach to be lifted when they need some face time, and if a boo-boo is not kissed, well...it's not good.  They instinctively know that physical contact is important to them, and we instantly give them what they need in the form of a back rub or pat, a stroke to the head or hair, and a smile of assurance.  Isn't it interesting that the back is the first place of contact to soothe?

In my house, all hugs seem to lead to an adjustment to the spine, it would seem odd for me to reach around my sons back and not palpate their spine for misalignments.   My gift to them will always be their health through chiropractic by keeping them connected to their innate intelligence within using the most caring way that I know how.   Kids understand Chiropractic right away, as they have been living the chiropractic pinciples since birth.  You know it to, but have you forgotten?

I can help you to remember,
